Days 2 through 7 Peeling Process
Redness, itchiness, swelling, dryness, tightness and discoloration to brown are common.
The top layer of dark skin will peel away. Your skin will start to peel in 48 to 72 hours.
The peeling will last 5 to 7 days. Most peeling will occur on day 4 to day 6.
Adverse Experiences such as a skin breakout or acne, rash, swelling and burning may occur. Call your medical office immediately regarding any unexpected problems. Peeling amount varies per skin condition. Lack of peeling is not an indication that the peel was unsuccessful. Reasons may include: • Regular skin resurfacing • Frequent use of Retin A, AHA, or other peeling agents • Severe sun damage
During the peeling process, the skin should be kept comfortable, not too moist before the peeling starts, and not too dry after the peeling starts.
Ongoing Maintenance
Avoid direct sun exposure at least for 4 weeks. Always shade the new skin and use sunscreen all the time.
Avoid exfoliating products or facial washing devices for 4 weeks.
It is critical to continue skin lightening or acne treatment regimen to enhance the peeling results and prevent the resurfacing of pigmentation or acne.
