What You Need to Know About the Lymphatic System

We’re big believers in the impact of clean living and developing internal to external beauty habits. When a beauty routine radiates from within, the results are tremendous. For this reason, we think lymphatic detox should be a must for beauty mavericks and minimalists alike.

Lymphatic detox (also referred to as a lymphatic massage) is a service to help promote detoxification, healing, and purity of the body. It can be used for cosmetic or health purposes as the range of benefits includes internal healing and circulatory stimulation all the way to raised metabolic rates, skin clarity, and reduced swelling. Many people associate the service with treating lymphedema, but in reality, this service boasts a number of aesthetic benefits as well. We are already purifying our aid and water- why not take the idea internally as well?

What is The Lymphatic System?

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and organs. It functions as a part of the immune system - think of it as a garbage disposal for non-food waste. The body’s cells use lymphatic fluid to move and flush substances out of your system. In some cases, the system becomes backed up with too many pollutants and can become swollen, or puffy. For example, when you are starting to get a cold and the lymph glands in your neck swell and become sensitive. This effect is due to an increase in toxins that it’s struggling to filter out. The system used lymphatic fluid to flush out these toxins while the fluid itself delivers high doses of white blood cells to support healthy structures and prevent infection.

"It acts like a sanitation system for our body by getting rid of 'waste' that our body naturally produces, or other things that can invade our body, like bacteria.

It's what protects us from getting an infection."

— Linda Koehler, PhD
